About Me

About Me

Photographer / Creative Professional / Graphic Designer

The Artist   /   The Photographer

I have been an artist my whole life and I grew up sketching, drawing, painting and creating all kinds of things. In college I wanted to stay creative and focused on graphic arts. In my studies I completed fine arts and photography courses along with graphic design courses. This was before the digital age of photography began, so I studied 35mm film photography and the many processes of developing film in a darkroom. I enjoyed photography and the entire process it involved.

Not until the more recent advances in digital photography and camera equipment did I really dive into the world of photography. There are so many possibilities with digital photos, including editing capabilities now offered with computer software. You can refine and manipulate photos in so many different ways the options are endless.

My Background

My background in photography began as a hobby, who rarely took many photos. I did not know the full capabilities of cameras and how to control them. Even with the basic photography course I completed I still wanted to learn more. I researched and read books on photography and cameras to understand how they worked to learn how to control the exposure of the photos I was taking. As photography continues to change with advances in camera technology there is always something new and interesting to learn.

Travel and Nature Photography has become a passion of mine and I am always looking to learn more and better understand the process of taking photos in different lighting and weather conditions.

“It is my intention to present – through the medium of photography – intuitive observations of the natural world which may have meaning to the spectators.”
— Ansel Adams

an expression of my creative vision

My Passion

Being a travel photographer of the natural world is what I really enjoy. The environment and light is always changing and there are so many photo possibilities it's endless. It ranges from outdoor landscape photography, wildlife, (micro) small details of nature some people do not even see, architecture, environmental photography and much more. The way the light creates different shapes and textures in the natural world or the man made world creates endless possibilities for the photographer. Also, being a travel photographer you get a chance to learn more about other parts of the country you live and the differences in other cultures around the world.

My Inspiration

Initially I was inspired by Ansel Adams and other great landscape photographers. The are so many amazing place around the world I wanted to get out an explore, to learn and document these places to create memories with photography. Now for me capturing the scene or the mood of the location is what inspires me. The same place can look so many different ways depending on the light, the weather, the clouds and your location within the scene. Changing your view or perspective of the scene provides endless options. The small details and shadows create interesting and unusual shapes that always catches my eye. As an outdoor and natural light photographer the small details and how everything is constantly changing inspires me to travel, learn and experience different places and cultures around the world.
